Skin Imperfections and Bar Stools

Don’t be misled by the title.  Although there is no direct correlation between sappy-looking skin and bar stools, finding yourself slumped over some piece of furniture in a bar, with petrified vomit grazing your cheeks after a hard night of drinking and partying will eventually take its toll on your skin.  All those bottles of alcohol will only do your skin more harm than good.

What alcohol does is it enlarges the blood vessels on your skin until they sooner or later lose their quality or tone.  Oftentimes, this leads to a permanent redness on your face.  If you happen to suffer from a condition known as acne rosacea, drinking way too much alcohol will only aggravate this condition.   Blemishes and blotches will likewise start to appear on your face.

Since alcohol is a strong dehydrating substance, drinking too much will cause your skin to dry up, pretty much like a shriveled prune.   Don’t be surprised then if you start to find wrinkles comfortably settling in the recesses of your skin.  Too much alcohol also depletes your body of much-needed vitamin A.  This is an essential antioxidant which keeps your skin looking healthy.

So the next time your friends ask you to join them in another bacchanalian feast which promises to see you through the wee hours of the morning, think twice.  If you must drink, do so in moderation.  You don’t want to look like an old hag in your thirties, do you?
