Proper hygiene or regular washing and conditioning help us keep our crowning glory healthy and full of life. However, regular hair treatments like perm, color, highlights or frequent blow drying can damage it. The first step for hair care is to get to know our manes. Is it fine and thin, thick and wavy, dry, dull or heavily treated? Special hair care products can help us care for our hair and pamper it if we can match our needs with the shampoo or conditioner that we use.

The next step is being able to use hair care products properly. Product labels usually have instructions on how to apply products and precautions on dosage or frequency of use. For instance, shampooing your hair starts with rinsing the residues and dirt from hair, then lather the shampoo from the scalp and massage your way to the hairline behind the ears, the temples and all the way to the back of the head, rinse the shampoo off by gently massaging the scalp and slightly squeezing the hair. It is also not advisable to pull or tug on wet hair.
