Cartoons are fun to watch because animation has a certain quality which inevitably elicits smiles from its viewers.  But if the sole reason you saw Madagascar 3 was because you envied Alex the Lion’s soft and shiny mane, then you’ve another thing going.  Obviously, you are obsessed with your locks. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, since your hair is your crowning glory.

If you’ve recently had a digital perm, you’re probably now reveling in the sultriness of your newfound curls.  But if you want to keep that glory going, you have to take care of your salon-treated hair.

A digi perm or hot perm is different from your typical cold perm, as a chemical is combined with hot rods to help set the curls.  Because perms add more kink to the hair, there’s an increased risk for frizziness, breakage, and dullness.

If you want your curls to stay shiny and manageable, look for a shampoo and conditioner with dimethicone or silicone.  They seal your hair cuticle (the coating on each hair strand), keeping it soft and smooth.

Use a deep conditioning hair mask once a week to keep your hair strong after being subjected to texture-altering chemicals.   A weekly washing with clarifying shampoo helps flush out residue which could possibly make your hair look dull.
