The health benefits of physical fitness are taught as early as grade school. But it can be easy for some to forget these lessons and be lured to a sedentary lifestyle especially now that people spend most of their time at home. If you are veering off to the sedentary direction then I suggest you start a Stay Fit at Home Habit. Aside from keeping you fit, home workouts can be a fun and fulfilling activity. Let’s start by gearing up for your new habit.

Budget is not a concern in order to start a stay fit at home habit. If you really don’t want to spend a cent then simply do some grade school calisthenics at home wearing your house clothes. But it may not be as efficient as getting properly geared for a workout. At the very least you should equip yourself with proper workout clothes. These are cool and comfy clothes that won’t hamper your movement during work out. It would also help if you have a fitness guide to help you choose the right routine for your fitness goals. There are 7 to 10-minute work-out routines that you can try if your goal is to simply avoid a sedentary lifestyle.  But if you want to get rid of fats, tone your body, or strengthen muscles then it would require a fitness program and some hardware as well.

What kind of gear or equipment should I buy?

The type of equipment that you choose will depend upon your fitness goals and chosen routine. For instance, if you choose to go with Pilates or Yoga, then all you need to get started is a yoga mat. Cardio exercises like running or jogging doesn’t require any equipment if you have room to run or jog inside your house or in your yard. Otherwise you may want to invest in a good cardio equipment. You can start with a jump rope if you like, 10 minutes of jump rope can be more or less equivalent to a 30-minute jog. It’s a good option for those who want to stay fit at home on a budget and those who don’t have much storage space in their house. Those who have space and budget can look into big ticket equipment like treadmills and exercise bikes.

Strength Training Gear

Dumbells, Kettlebells, weighted arm bands, and ankle weights are space-friendly and budget friendly gears for muscle building and strengthening exercises. You can also include pull-up and push-up bars in your equipment options if you like. As for those who are serious about getting their muscles tones, there are Home Gym Weight Benches and Pulley Machines that they can consider.

Full Body Workout Gear

Resistance Bands can help you get a full body workout without requiring a lot of space. These bands and straps simply have to be anchored on a sturdy and fixed object to help you get the work out you need. You can get a complete set of bands like the PTP Total Resistance System for your strengthening, toning, and fat burning exercises. If you want to invest in full sized equipment then check out climbers, rowers, and stepper machines like Jacobs Ladder. Your full body work-out gear may be a combination of several tools and equipment. You simply have to choose which ones work best for you.
