After the Holidays:  Jewelry is Still a Great Choice for Those After Holiday Gifts

When the holidays are on the horizon, advertisements and commercials for jewelry are everywhere but that doesn’t mean that when the holidays have passed, so has the time for giving the gift of baubles!

While a popular holiday gift, receiving jewelry at an unexpected time of the year can be much more endearing and memorable than finding it amongst your holiday gifts.

Here are four times in the year when you should consider giving jewelry as a gift:

Anniversary

There’s a good reason all those anniversary levels use precious gems and metals to mark the occasion! Giving a special piece of jewelry at your anniversary is a great way to say, “I love you” and to mark the passing of those special years. Having a custom made piece of jewelry designed that incorporates elements of your relationship can be a great way to make that piece stand out. Maybe you got married in a botanical garden and want to use a butterfly to symbolize that day? Or you have incorporated the birthstones of your children to represent your family’s cohesive unit? Having a piece custom made can imbue it with a surprising amount of sentimental value.

Can’t find a local jeweler or aren’t looking to have something made? You’d be amazed at the amount of unique jewelry pieces available ready made, like the turquoise and white gold butterfly bracelet from Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

Birthdays

While a popular time for jewelry, it doesn’t mean it’s not a good time! Sharing a pretty necklace or a set of standout earrings with your special person on their birthday is a wonderful option for a great gift. A pair of simple diamond earrings or a jade necklace can take a lovely evening out to dinner to another level. Not sure what they’d love?

Peruse their jewelry box for inspiration, even taking a couple photos of pieces they wear often and bringing it with you to the jewelry store to compare. Try not to force their hand to wear pieces they normally wouldn’t. Never seen your partner wear rings? Now may not be the time to start.

Valentine’s Day

Whether you love it or hate it, it’s not going away. It’s Valentine’s Day. If your partner is someone who celebrates the day of love, you may want to consider investing in a piece of jewelry for them at some point so that they can have a gift that’s bit more special than flowers and chocolates.

If your partner isn’t much for Valentine’s Day but you still want to give them something special, look for something small and delicate that still has meaning without being ostentatious (unlike most Valentine’s Day decorations).

Your special days

Every relationship has days outside of birthdays, anniversaries, valentines and the usual gamut that mean something special to the couple. Whether it’s the day you met, the day you proposed or just that one special day that has always stayed close to your hearts, giving a piece of jewelry can be the perfect way to mark a moment in your relationship that changed things.
