The world of fashion is constantly evolving. What’s in today would be out of style tomorrow. It changes faster than everything. While some styles turn out to be fad, some hit the general public like a tornado and stay for a long time, leaving their mark.

Compare today’s fashion with yesterday’s and you’ll see a massive difference. While we don’t see fashion changing on a daily basis, but the truth is that it does change gradually and something suddenly goes out of style.

Some fashion elements are restricted to specific geographical limit while some spread throughout the world. All in all, fashion is never constant and you need to be well aware of the changing scenario if you wish to stay fashionable.

Let’s take a look back at the history of fashion from the old century up to the modern century:

The 60’s – Era of Mini Skirts

The 60’s decade was all about change. In 1964, miniskirts were introduced, ad they took the nation by storm completely changing the world of fashion.

No matter where you looked, ladies were seen in miniskirts that went in contrast with their tops or shirts. Many believe that dots were also made famous during this era, in addition to white boots and the huge goggles.

If you notice around you, polka dots are still used in movies to show the vintage era, however big glasses are making a comeback.

The 70’s– The Punk Look

Torn clothes, self-locking pins holding worn out shirts together, wild bright Mohawks had overwhelmed the 70’s. It was, even more, a defiant time. London’s 70’s punk movement was all about rebellion.

This is also when accessories started to get famous as more and more men and women began to wear glasses, studs and other such items. This is still in fashion with stores like PearlsOnly selling vintage designs.

The 80’s – Corporate Look

Things changed continuously in the 80’s as fashion was affected by the disco revolution.

Men had a liking for wearing tuxedos having wide lapels, with flared pants, and tall structure petticoats. The zippered jumpsuit was mainstream among both men and ladies.

Medium-length hairstyle was famous among men, which gradually changed into long hair in the late 1980s because of the impact of heavy metal music.

The 90’s – Fashion Goes Soft And Comfortable

Considering the ostentatious style of 70’s and 80s, the fashion of 90s adopted a slow paced approach. Men and women in mid 90s wore loose fit pants with plain shirts and woven sweaters, while high school boys and teen girls frequently picked bright shaded neon attires which were in a variety of colors such as hot pink, navy blue, dark orange, greens, and yellows.

By 1992, these fluorescent colors were supplanted by softer shades. Comfort came to be the most important factor for people in 90s, and a lot of uncomfortable clothing was ditched in this era.

The 2000’s – The Fusion Fashion

Ladies’ fashion took a more bold turn as ladies started wearing denim miniskirts and leather long coats, bridle tops, paunch shirts, low-ascent pants, and also capri pants. Amid the mid-2000s, fashion got painted with previous era’s designs and patterns all over with improvisations and people were loving it.

For men, things remained on the same lines but with new cuts.
