What are the Difference between Bra Cup Sizes A, B, C and D?

One of the more common questions that are asked about bra sizes is the difference between the cup sizes. These are labeled as letters, such as A, B, C and D. There are also many other letters, at times even being combined with each other, such as AA or AAA. A basic explanation of the difference between the cup sizes is the fact that each letter stands for a specific size bra. Size A is the smallest and size D is the largest of sizes in the list (Source: LuLa Lu size 36a bra). Choosing the right cup size can make a difference in your comfort and even your health.

 

The way that the cup sizes discernment is a bit more complex than understanding why there are different letters. When you are measured for a bra, there are two basic measurements that need to be done. The first measurement is the strap size. It is a measurement that is taken from the back around to the front in the general area of the bra band, under the bust. If you measure between inches, round up to the nearest inch.

The second measurement that you take is going to be from the same area in the back around to the fullest part of the bust. This measurement should also be rounded up to the nearest inch. At this point, you should subtract the band measurement from the larger measurement and use a chart to help you to determine your cup size.

It is estimated that 80 percent of all women are not measure properly for a bra. Understanding the difference between bra sizes and finding the one that’s going to work the best for you can really make a difference in your comfort.
